NASoW
About Us
NASoW is Nigeria's umbrella professional body for social workers, recognized nationally
and affiliated with the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW).
It has chapters in all states, including Benue, and works to set standards, grow the profession,
and advocate for sound social policy.
At the state level, the Benue State Chapter is led by a chapter executive.
As of 2024, the national directory lists George O. Ukeh as Benue State Chairman (0803-352-9205).

NASoW Benue offers capacity-building through trainings, workshops, and conferences; networking;
ethics guidance; advocacy; and career support under NASoW's Code of Ethics.

Membership Usage
NASoW membership is useful across public, private, and civil-society settings:
schools, hospitals, NGOs, MDAs, rehabilitation and correctional centres, and at local, state,
and federal levels. Employers or schools can verify membership directly via NASoW Secretariat.
Who Should Join
- Qualified social workers (Cert, Dip, B.Sc., MSW/DSW/PhD).
- Students of Social Work (student category).
- Professionals in allied fields/practitioners in social programmes (associate/affiliate).
- Institutions/NGOs supporting social work (affiliate/patron by invitation).
Membership Categories
1. Full Membership — For holders of Social Work/Development qualifications (Cert/Dip/B.Sc.+).
2. Associate Membership — For individuals aligned with NASoW’s objectives (even if degree is in another field).
3. Affiliate Membership — For NGOs, agencies, or institutions.
4. Patrons — Distinguished individuals invited by the General Assembly.
5. Student Membership — For Social Work students in higher institutions.
6. Extra-ordinary Membership — For Directors of Social Work components (public service linkage).
Dues & fees: Registration sums are nationally defined; monthly dues are set by state chapters.

- NASoW is advocating for the operationalization of the Nigerian Council for Social Work (NCSW).
- NASoW publishes the Nigerian Journal of Social Work (peer-reviewed, biannual) to support research and CPD.

3. Register with the Chapter and pay state-set dues.
4. Receive membership ID/certificate and join Benue Chapter communications.
